Xi Sigma Pi, Alpha Upsilon Chapter

Welcome to the official website of Xi Sigma Pi, the forestry and natural resources honor society at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

Xi Sigma Pi is a national honor society which was founded at the University of Washington in 1908. The Alpha Upsilon Chapter was established in 1980 at Cal Poly. The chapter has 28 members as of January 2011. The objectives of the society are "to secure and maintain a high standard of scholarship in forest resources management education, to work for the improvement of the forest resources management profession, and to promote a fraternal spirit among those engaged in activities related to the forest resources."

New members, affectionately known as neophytes, are invited to participate in the club based upon their academic and personal qualifications. Academic qualifications are a GPA of at least 3.0 and at least 15 credits of NR classes. New members must complete the initiation process, which tests their skills and character. The club organizes events such as tree planting and speakers.
